These herbs also boost cognitive functions, relieve stress, and stabilize mood. Sound baths and sound healing are holistic wellness practices that utilize resonant sounds and vibrations to promote health and well-being.
In Ayurveda and traditonal Tibetan medicine, the body’s channels (srotas) are vital pathways for the flow of energy, fluids, and information. Sound healing is believed to help clear these pathways of any blockages (sanga), which might manifest as physical or emotional imbalances. The vibrations help to break up these blockages, restoring the natural flow and supporting the body’s own healing mechanisms.

For our Shirodhara and Basti treatments, we primarily use sesame oil as the base. In Shirodhara, we infuse the sesame oil with a special in-house blend using ancient techniques favoring herbs that have calming, cooling, and nourishing effects. These include:
Bhringraj: Known for its rejuvenating properties, bhringraj helps in improving blood circulation to the scalp, promoting hair growth, and relieving stress.
Brahmi: A therapeutic herb excellent for boosting brain function, reducing anxiety, and improving memory and concentration.
Sandalwood: Offers a cooling effect, helps in reducing tension and anxiety, and possesses aromatic properties that calm the mind.
Licorice: Known for its soothing effects on the gastrointestinal system, licorice also helps in reducing stress and has anti-inflammatory properties.
For Basti, we use traditional medicated oils like:
Mahanarayana oil: This oil is beneficial for relieving joint pain and stiffness, enhancing muscle strength, and improving mobility.
Bala tailam: Known for its strengthening and rejuvenating qualities, Bala tailam is used to boost vitality and overall well-being.
These specific oils are chosen for their deep therapeutic effects, aligning with the principles of Ayurveda to ensure optimal health and healing.

The frequency of Basti or Shirodhara treatments can vary depending on your specific health condition and wellness goals. For deep and rapid healing, such as recovering from significant imbalances or chronic conditions, treatments might be recommended two to three times per week. If you're aiming for moderate healing and improvement in symptoms, once a week could be sufficient. For ongoing maintenance and to support the health of your tissues regularly, once a month is typically recommended. This schedule ensures that body treatments are optimized to your personal health needs and the desired therapeutic outcomes.
-
For your appointment, it's best to wear something light and comfortable. Depending on the specific treatment, some procedures may be conducted while you are fully clothed, whereas others may require you to remove clothing. We recommend wearing clothes that you wouldn't mind getting a drop or two of oil on. Although we are careful and seldom spill oil, it's a good precaution to take just in case. This way, you can relax and enjoy your treatment without worrying about your attire.

Yes, there are specific contraindications for Shirodhara, Basti, and sound healing treatments in Ayurveda, which are important to consider for safety and efficacy.
For Shirodhara, it's advised to avoid the treatment if you have a fever, cold or flu, are menstruating, have recently consumed alcohol, or are experiencing severe anxiety or nausea. These conditions can interfere with the calming effects of Shirodhara and may exacerbate symptoms.
Topical Basti should be avoided in areas where the skin is broken, infected, or inflamed. It is also not recommended over areas with severe varicose veins or deep vein thrombosis. Similar to other body treatments, it should not be administered during acute infections, fever, or immediately after eating.
As for sound healing, while generally considered safe, it's advisable to avoid this treatment if you have sound-induced epilepsy or severe mental conditions such as schizophrenia, as certain frequencies can potentially trigger negative reactions.
